Industrialized Production of Human Cardiomyocytes: Novel Approaches to Drug Discovery and Toxicity Testing
11:00 -11:30am | April 13, 2010 | Phoenix, AZ
Speaker: Blake Anson, Cardiomyocyte Product Manager
Industrialized quantities of pure human cells are needed for improved drug discovery, toxicity testing, and therapeutics. Pluripotent stem cell technology has the potential to meet this need. Cellular Dynamics International (CDI) has developed a manufacturing pipeline to generate pure, high quality, human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cell-derived cardiomyocytes (iCell-Cardiomyocytes) for large-scale commercial use. We will present data describing the production process, characterization of the differentiated cardiomyocytes, and demonstrate their utility in toxicity screening.
